SUMMARY:: Bootle Festival of Ideas – Spaces for change / walk tour
DESCRIPTION:Bootle Festival of Ideas – Spaces for change / walk tour\n\nA
s part of Sefton’s year as Borough of Culture we’re running the Festiv
al of Ideas – to help YOU get new ideas off the ground\n\nBOOK HERE\n\nH
ave you ever looked at one of Bootle’s unloved spaces or unused building
s and thought “I could do something with that”? Maybe you want to tran
 sform a disused building into a fresh co-working space\, beautify a long n
eglected passageway\, or turn forgotten spaces into trails for exploration
or places to meet? Do you look wistfully at the canal\, dreaming of outdo
or seating and Amsterdam-esque independents?\n\nThese are places where com
munities have gathered\; spaces with character and history. And\, importan
tly\, lots of life left within them. With hundreds of years worth of stori
es found in every brick and blade of grass\, it’s about time we told som
e more. How do we use the spaces around and between our buildings? And what
connects A to B?\n\nWe’re looking for a raft of new ideas that local re
sidents want to try out in Sefton. As part of Sefton’s year as Borough o
f Culture we’re running the Festival of Ideas – to help YOU get new id
eas off the ground.\n\nNobody expected this from 2020. It’s been a year
that’s thrown all of our assumptions up into the air\; made us rethink w
hat we do and why we do it\, and shown the value of community\, collective
endeavour and local resilience. We’ve had a chance to think about what
works for us and the places we live in. How can we help #BuildBackBetter a
nd create real and lasting change in Bootle?\n\nWhether you have a dream t
hat has outgrown your box room\, or want to give a new lease of life to so
me long forgotten areas\, we want to help transform Bootle. What would you
do to bring one of these spaces back to life?\n\nWe’ve seen people powe
r regenerate neglected buildings and unremarkable walkways and waste groun
 d. Is there an outside area you’ve always wanted to transform? Change ho
w we all get from A to B? Wanted to open a café near that office building
or run a nature walk along the canal? The places and spaces around us are
unique and deserve love.So we want to hear your ideas.\n\nCome along to o
ne of our events and share your idea to bid for support from a funding pot
of £6\,000\, which will help take your idea to the next stage of develop
ment.\n\nWalkie-Talkies: Join us to walk and talk on Wednesday 30 Septembe
r from 5:30pm.\n\nWe’ll walk from Bootle Town Hall to the Strand\, and a
longside the canal\, to see for ourselves the potential for some of Bootle
’s spaces for change.\n\nBootle Festival of Ideas is part of the Borough
of Culture (BoC) programme. \n\nThe title is awarded by the Liverpool Ci
ty Region’s Combined Authority to one of its six local authorities on a
 rotating\, annual basis\, and we’ve taken over from Wirral\, 2019’s Bo
rough of Culture.\n\nThe focus of Sefton’s programme is on stories – a
bout us\, by us\, and for us… all of us – revolving around the theme o
f ‘Myths and Realities’. So join us and tell your story\, share your i
dea and see what we can help you make a reality at this spring’s Festiva
l of Ideas.\n\nBootle Festival of Ideas is produced by Make CIC\, a North
Liverpool-based community organisation\, and Kindred\, which supports the
region’s socially-trading businesses. Make supports artists\, makers and
small businesses with studio space\, workshop facilities and guidance so
that people can live happy\, healthy and prosperous lives.
