SUMMARY:Bluecoat: Bluecoat: Screening: Screening: Fantastic Planet (La Plan
 ète Sauvage)\, 1973
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a captivating journey into the surreal world of Fan
tastic Planet (La Planète Sauvage)\, the critically acclaimed 1973 animat
ed science fiction film directed by René Laloux. Known for its imaginativ
e visuals and thought-provoking themes\, Fantastic Planet has earned its p
lace as a classic in animated cinema.\n\nSet on the distant planet Ygam\,
Fantastic Planet explores the lives of the tiny\, human-like Oms and their
giant alien oppressors\, the Draags. The film follows Terr\, an Om who es
capes with advanced Draag technology and uses it to ignite a rebellion. Ho
wever\, this technology brings unforeseen challenges and dangers\, all wit
hin a visually stunning and imaginative alien world.\n\nThis screening is
a part of Bluecoat's Weird Futures season. Our current exhibition\, Let Yo
ur Ideas Come Back As Children\, by artists Roxy Topia and Paddy Gould\, e
xplores how children navigate a world dominated by technology and what thi
s means for their future. Advances in artificial intelligence and technolo
gy have rendered some occupations obsolete\, potentially limiting future c
areer options. However\, this exhibition suggests that human creativity is
an irreplaceable skill that will become increasingly important in the yea
rs to come.\n\nDon’t miss this opportunity to visit our current exhibiti
on and watch one of the most visually and thematically distinctive animate
d films ever made. Mark your calendars and join us for an unforgettable sc
reening of Fantastic Planet.\n\nThis film features French audio with Engli
 sh subtitles.\n\nFantastic Planet (La Planète Sauvage) 1973\nSun 15 Sept\
