SUMMARY:Bluecoat: Bluecoat (Online): UP:RISE TV
DESCRIPTION:UP:RISE TV is a 19 hour "pirate television" piece by artist Baf
f Akoto. The work serves as a critical commentary on the inherently reduct
ive\, simplifying and voyeuristic instincts of broadcast news and the limi
tations of the medium when faced with the complex\, societal causes of acu
te civil dissent and unrest.\n\nUP:RISE TV complements Akoto's Augmented R
eality UP:RISE works which (along with the nationwide exhibition by the sa
me name) explore the pathology\, history and underlying drivers of English
civil unrest in the digital age.\n\nWatch UP:RISE TV here
