SUMMARY:Bluecoat: Bluecoat: Liverpool Arab Arts Festival: Film screening: A
t Home In Gaza and London
DESCRIPTION:\nFilm screening: At Home In Gaza and London\n\n\n\n\nMonday 15
  July\, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pmBluecoat\n£10\nBook Tickets\n\nJoin us for this
special screening of the theatre performance At Home in Gaza and London\,
which premiered at LAAF 2018 and connected Liverpool\, London and Gaza. T
he event will include messages from Gazan collaborators.\n\nIn 2016 a grou
p of artistic collaborators in Gaza and London began a series of digital w
orkshops as an alternative means to defy the blockade.\n\nOut of the excha
nges emerged a theatre piece where they appear together in a single space
shared by audiences in both cities. The last live performances were in Jul
y 2018\, connecting El Wedad Theatre with Battersea Arts Centre and the Ev
eryman Theatre as part of LAAF’s 2018 festival in Liverpool.\n\nAt Home
in Gaza and London follows the lives of people living in two locations sep
arated by great political\, economic\, and physical divides. By using a mi
x of live-streaming and recorded video\, a single performance space is cre
ated where artists work together. They occupy each other’s homes\, stree
ts and other social spaces. Sharing their everyday behaviour and concerns\
, as they dissolve into each other or become ghostly protagonists in the d
rama.\n\nMany of the collaborators in the production are still living in G
aza. They have lost family members\, friends\, colleagues\, and homes. One
of them\, Ayah Abdulrahman died of cancer in 2019\, having received inter
mittent yet insufficient treatment due to the blockade on Gaza. All the st
udios and theatres the team worked in have been destroyed.\n\nThe event wi
ll share messages from the Gazan team and will try to connect to those we
can live.\n\nBefore the bombardment\, disabled dancer Walid Tafesh was lea
ding one of the few workshop programmes for children in Jabalia\, North Ga
za. Walid hopes to resume this when possible.\n\nAll ticket sales will go
towards the project’s collaborators who are trying to survive unimaginab
le circumstances.\n\nFurther event information: \n\n\n\n\n\nSuitable for
