SUMMARY:Bluecoat: Bluecoat: Introduction to Etching
DESCRIPTION:Introduction to Etching\n\nFri\, 15 Nov 2019 - Sat\, 07 Dec 201
 9\n11.00 AM - 5 PM\n\nIntroduction to Etching\n\nLearn all about the etchi
ng process using our over 100 year old etching press in our Intaglio studi
 o. On the day you will be shown how to create a hard ground and soft groun
d etching. The process begins by you coating a metal plate with a waxy res
ist which you draw into to expose lines\, these lines are then submerged i
nto a copper sulphate solution which eats away at the line creating an ind
ent. Special etching inks are then pushed into the lines on your metal pla
te and when printed on the etching press using damp paper creates an etchi
ng. This technique is a must for people that draw and enjoy line work but
also a fascinating technique to experience. No prior experience required.\
n\nWe are a safe etching facility so all the chemicals that are used are s
afe and once you have completed the course you can come back and hire the
space to keep on printing.\n\nTo find out about other workshops available
through the Bluecoat Print Studio please click here.\n\nThis season\,
Introduction to Etching occurs on the following dates:\n\nFri 15 November
  \n\nSat 7 December\n\nAll courses run between 11am - 5pm\n\nTickets: £6
 0 / £50
