 un 2020\n11.00 AM - 6.00 PM\nAs part of Bluecoat’s ongoing commitment to
  supporting outstanding Northern artists\, we are pleased to present a sol
 o show by Frances Disley.\nAs a starting point for her work Disley has pre
 viously used the colourways of a high fashion tracksuit to create a moving
  painting and a community aerobics class as the setting for a dance perfor
 mance and installation. She is interested in the things we do to feel bett
 er about ourselves\, while eschewing the elitism found within the self-car
 e industry with its obsessions with conventional beauty\, ideal body mass 
 and self-regard.\nFor Pattern Buffer\, as with many of her previous inst
 allations\, Disley will layer multi-sensory elements to create an environm
 ent that invites gallery visitors to make use of her art works\, whether t
 hat is to pause and rest in comfort\, share a hobby or take something from
  the space. Reference points for her upcoming solo show Pattern Buffer i
 nclude dominoes clubs\, hair accessories as art\, plants which survive fro
 m moisture in the air and the Holodeck\, a device from the Star Trek scie
 nce fiction series in which participants engage with different virtual rea

 Frances Disley born Warrington\, 1976 lives &amp\; works in Liverpool. She
  was a co-director of The Royal Standard 2012-14 and a Liverpool Biennial
  Associate Artist 2016.\nHer performance installation RRR commissioned b
 y Rule of Threes with Sefton Libraries was acquired by the Arts Council Co
