  for 1 day)\n\nSuitable for beginners and for those continuing from previo
 us courses\, as the tutor will tailor the material to individual participa
 nts.\n\nProgramme\n\nDuring the workshop\, Catherine will guide you throug
 h two exciting\, hands-on feltmaking projects.\n\nFor the first project yo
 u will create a wall art piece (approximately 30cm x 30cm) to decorate you
 r home or as a beautiful hand made gift. Catherine will show you technique
 s to create a landscape\, a floral scene or something more colourful and a
 bstract.\n\nThe second project will be 3D felt as Catherine guides you thr
 ough the process of making a flower shaped decoration. Beautiful as a gift
 \, you can choose to add a hair pin clip\, a brooch back or decorative lea
 ves. Time permitting\, a series of flowers can be made!\n\nIn both project
 s\, you will learn the ancient Scandinavian skill of wet felt-making. A ma
 gically creative process\, merino wool and exotic fibres and yarns such as
  silks\, camel down\, linens and mohair are arranged carefully into a desi
 gn before water and olive soap are applied to the surface. Friction from y
 our hands alone will transform the fibres into a textile which has a uniqu
 ely organic look and feel.\n\nChoose from over 40 shades of merino wools a
 nd special pre-mixed blends or learn how to blend your own with carders. Y
 ou will also learn how to apply silk and cotton fabrics n a 'NUNO' felting
  style. Catherine will show you basic hand embroidery to decorate your art
 work before helping you assemble to a hanging rod (embellishment can be st
 uck down for anyone who prefers not to stitch). There will be plenty examp
 les and ideas to guide you along in this process.\n\nTutor: Catherine Carm
 yllie\n\nCatherine Carmyllie is a Liverpool based Artist currently working
  across painting and textile art. She completed a Textile Art degree at Hu
 ddersfield University before spending 6 months at The Arts and Crafts Acad
 emy of Kuopio\, Finland where she had the opportunity to learn ancient Sca
 ndinavian skills such as bookbinding\, weaving\, feltmaking amongst others
