‘Wonderbeast’ with local ceramic sculptor Chris Turrell Watts.\n\n‘
Wonderbeasts’ are a series of ceramic pieces that are drawn from medieva
l illustration\, folklore and Outsider art. He’s interested in the space
between fact and legend\, exploring notions of the wild magic of nature a
nd our own world of order and familiarity. Storytelling is a key theme to
these pieces\, suggesting distinctive characters and individual narratives
. Created from a mix of hand building and press moulding and using layers
of coloured slips and oxides\, these objects feel alive and purposeful.\n*
Chris will also be here on LightNight\, Friday 15th May to talk about his
work and demonstrate how he makes his fantastical Wonderbeasts. Tickets f
or the workshop are £65 for friends of bdc\, or £70 full price\, anyone
who attends our free LightNight event can get the reduced price of £65. P
laces are limited to 12 for the workshop\, so please call 0151 709 4014 to
book\, or email us on crafts@bluecoatdisplaycentre.com.\n
