SUMMARY:Bluecoat Display Centre: Bluecoat Display Centre: 'Sunflowers Colle
 ction' by Peter Layton
DESCRIPTION:Bluecoat Display Centre Presents\n'Sunflowers Collection' by Pe
ter Layton\nShowcased at the Bluecoat Display Centre from 6th - 23rd Sept
ember 2017\n\nThe National Gallery Company and Peter Layton launch the Van
Gogh Sunflowers series in celebration of Peter's 80th Birthday. Hand-bl
own in Peter Layton's studio\, this sumptuous range is the glass artist's
personal interpretation of what he considered to be the essence of the ori
ginal.\n\nVan Gogh's Sunflowers is among the most iconic paintings in the
world and Peter Layton's new Sunflowers series is the third successful c
ollaboration with the National Gallery Company. Each piece is unique\, sig
ned by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity.\n\nPeter L
ayton  has been at the forefront of British glassblowing since the 1970's
and in the last 40 years scores of talented glassmakers have worked under
his tutelage\, producing successful collaborative projects and individual
works of glass art. Peter has previously designed two ranges for the Nati
 onal Gallery\, Van Gogh's A Wheatfield\,with Cypresses and Monet's The W
ater- Lily Pond.\n\nJudith Mather\, Buying and Merchandise Director\, Nati
onal Gallery Company commented\, "We are very happy to be working with Pet
er Layton in his 80th year for this beautiful new range inspired by one of
the most recognisable paintings in the collection"\n\nPeter Layton commen
ted\, "I regard Van Gogh as one of the greatest painters of all time\, so
being asked by the National Gallery to interpret in glass\, his Sunflowers
\, one of the worlds most iconic paintings\, has been both enormously chal
lenging and extremely rewarding. To also have the opportunity to exhibit t
his new Sunflower series at the National Gallery is a source of great plea
 sure for me"
