SUMMARY:Bluecoat Display Centre: Bluecoat Display Centre: RE: Collected
DESCRIPTION:RE: Collected\n\n3 August - 14 September 2019\n\nFor our 60th a
nniversary year programme we've invited the collector Roger Morris to co-c
urate this exhibition which explores themes around collecting including th
e pleasures of collecting\, relationships between the special and the ever
yday\, friendships of the journey and the Bluecoat Display Centre’s role
in facilitating collecting.\n\nExhibitors include Ruth Ball\, Halima Cass
 ell\, Carina Ciscato\, Adam Frew\, Walter Keeler\, Chris Keenan\, Jim Par
 tridge\, Petrel Furniture\, Peter Howcroft\, Lisa Cole Kronenberg\, Clemen
 t McAleer\, John Leach’s Muchelney Pottery\, Emma Rodgers\, Kaori Tateba
yashi\, Ed Teasdale and James &amp\; Tilla Waters.\n\nThe work being exhi
bited will reflect my own taste and interests of ceramics\, sculpture and
furniture but not be chosen too narrowly ! \n\nItems will be ceramic\,
sculpture and furniture\, supplemented by a small number of pieces in enam
eled silver and artworks by painters directly linked with the Bluecoat as
a building.  The ‘accessible price’ items will mainly be items such
as mugs\, bowls and utensils which are made to give pleasure in daily use.
All the items for sale will be from makers who are still active\, but
some will be very established names\, some will be young makers who are st
ill developing their practice\, and some will be makers whose work I like
but which has not been seen in the Display Centre before.\n\nRelationships
between the special and the everyday: buying some special objects\, which
are expensive but can be looked at with pleasure for many years\, but als
o buying some more day-to-objects which\, when they are the work of indivi
dual makers\, may seem expensive at first but will give continuing pleasur
e in daily use.  \n\nAnother theme will be the Bluecoat Display Centre
’s role in helping people become and develop as collectors\, and in help
ing makers find purchasers who collect their work for a sustained number o
f years.\n- Roger Morris\n\nThere will also be a small section of work
‘borrowed back’ in the form of pieces purchased from the Display Centr
e over the last thirty or so years\; some will be from my own collection b
ut we are also asking four or five of the Display Centre’s other major c
ustomers to lend items in order to show a wider range.\n\nFor further info
rmation on the participating makers click here or contact Sam Rhodes for
 high resolution images\n\nAdmission Free\nOpen Monday – Saturday 10 –
 5.30\, Sundays &amp\; bank holidays noon - 5\n\nBluecoat Display Centre\,
