SUMMARY:Bluecoat Display Centre: Bluecoat Display Centre: Mark Fenn\, In th
 e Window
DESCRIPTION:We are delighted to announce our ‘In the Window’ maker for
September will be glass artist Mark Fenn. Mark is a beekeeper and glassbl
ower based in the Northern Lights artist-led space in Liverpool. He combin
es his passions of beekeeping and glassblowing by infusing the honey gathe
red from his native Welsh black bees into glass vessels\, which are inspir
ed by the natural forms made within the beehive by the bees.\n\nMark’s l
atest body of honey infused work has been developed during the filming of
‘Make It at Market‘\, a new series commissioned by The BBC and hosted
by Dom Chinea of ‘The Repair Shop’. His mentor on the series\, Allist
er Malcolm\, gave Mark a set of hexagonal moulds to experiment with in exc
hange for a block of his beeswax.\n\nBased on honeycomb\, Mark’s hexagon
al vases are individually coloured and the four colours used in the collec
tion represent each the four seasons and the life cycle of the bees. His w
hite classic hexagonal vases compliment the collection: the cappings from
the individual cells of the honeycomb form the purest beeswax\, which is w
hite in colour.\n\nA selection of Mark’s pieces will be available to pur
chase via our online shop\, www.bluecoatdisplaycentreshop.com. Alternati
vely for further information or prices call us on 0151 709 4014. You can a
lso view Make It At Market on BBC iplayer\, Mark is featured on episode 12
.\n\nAbout Mark Fenn\n\nI am a beekeeper and glassblower. My studio is loc
ated in the Northern Lights building in Liverpool. I combine my passions o
f beekeeping and glassblowing by infusing the honey gathered from my nativ
e Welsh black bees into my glass. The forms I make are inspired by the nat
ural forms made within the beehive by the bees.\n\nMy latest body of honey
infused work has been developed during the making of “Make it at Market
”\, a new 15 episode series commissioned by BBC Daytime TV which will be
aired this coming autumn and hosted by Dom Chinea of “The Repair Shop
”. My mentor on the series is Allister Malcolm who\, in exchange for a b
lock of my beeswax\, gave me a set of hexagonal moulds to experiment with
from his studio at Stourbridge Glass Museum.\n\nBased on honeycomb\, my he
xagonal vases are individually coloured and the four colours used in the c
ollection represent each the four seasons and the life cycle of the bees.
My white classic hexagonal vases compliment the collection. The cappings f
rom the individual cells of the honeycomb form the purest beeswax\, which
 is white in colour.
