SUMMARY:Bluecoat Display Centre: Bluecoat Display Centre: Making a Differen
 ce
DESCRIPTION:Making a Difference:\nCelebrating 10 years of outreach projects
 \nSaturday 25 January - Saturday 7 March 2020\n\nIn 2020 the Bluecoat D
isplay Centre will celebrate our 10-year anniversary as a registered chari
ty. To mark the occasion\, we have curated a special exhibition that highl
ights our outreach programme of artist workshops and residencies with loca
l health\, social care and education partners over the past decade.\n\nTh
e bdc’s outreach projects have demonstrated the benefits of craft for he
alth and wellbeing in the local community\, as well as its importance in e
ducation and learning. Our partners have included the Royal Liverpool Uni
versity and Broadgreen Hospitals\, The Walton Centre\, Alder Hey Children
’s Hospital\, The Life Rooms\, Clock View Hospital\, Person Shaped Suppo
rt (PSS)\, The Brain Charity\, Maggie's Merseyside at Clatterbridge Cancer
  Centre\, Liverpool Hope University\, Manchester Metropolitan University\
, Bolton University\, The University of Central Lancashire and local scho
ols.\n\nThe residencies and workshops have also provided valuable professi
onal development opportunities for makers across a range of disciplines\,
including ceramics\, textiles and printmaking. Many residencies have inclu
ded a final installation by the artist which can be viewed at partner or
ganisations. In 2019 Christine Toh designed cards using artwork by patient
s at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital\, proceeds of which go to the
Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen NHS Trust.
