SUMMARY:Bluecoat Display Centre: Bluecoat Display Centre: LightNight 'Home'
  2020
DESCRIPTION:LightNight ‘Home’ 2020\nFriday 15th May 2020\n\nLocal maker
Chris Turrell Watts\, our ‘In the Window’ maker for May will be here
from 6pm-7pm\, to talk about his work and demonstrate how he makes his fan
tastical ‘Wonderbeasts’.\n\n‘Wonderbeasts’ are a series of ceramic
pieces that are drawn from medieval illustration\, folklore and Outsider
art. He’s interested in the space between fact and legend\, exploring no
tions of the wild magic of nature and our own world of order and familiari
ty. Storytelling is a key theme to these pieces\, suggesting distinctive c
haracters and individual narratives. Created from a mix of hand building a
nd press moulding and using layers of coloured slips and oxides\, these ob
jects feel alive and purposeful.\n\nChris will also be running a workshop
at bdc to make your own Wonderbeast on Sunday June 7th from 11am- 4pm.Tick
ets are £65 for friends of bdc\, or £70 full price\, anyone who attends
our LightNight event can get the reduced price of £65. Places are limited
to 12\, so please call 0151 709 4014 to book\, or email us on crafts@blu
 ecoatdisplaycentre.com.
