SUMMARY:Bluecoat Display Centre: Bluecoat Display Centre: In The Window: Ja
 cob Chan
DESCRIPTION:Our 'In the Window' installation for Lunar New Year\, showcas
es the work of local ceramicist Jacob Chan\, whose work is heavily based
around his cultural background and heritage.\n\nWe are delighted to annou
nce that local ceramicist Jacob Chan will be ‘In the Window’ for Janua
ry 2025 to celebrate Lunar New Year.\n\nJacob has developed a new body of
work specially for this window installation entitled 'Zodiac'\n\n'The 12 C
hinese zodiac animals hold deep symbolic significance\, representing vario
us aspects of personality\, life\, and the natural world. Each animal embo
dies unique traits and energies\, reflecting cycles of transformation\, gr
owth\, and wisdom. For me\, these animals are not only a part of cultural
heritage but also powerful symbols that resonate with my own journey and e
xperiences.\n\nThrough the creation of this body of artwork\, which includ
es ceramics\, paintings\, and jewellery\, I aim to explore and express the
profound meanings behind each zodiac animal. The ceramic pieces capture t
he tactile essence and durability of the animals' characteristics\, while
the paintings bring to life their energy and symbolism in vivid\, visual f
orm. The jewellery pieces serve as intimate\, wearable representations\, a
llowing these symbols to connect on a personal level with those who intera
ct with them.\n\nThis collection is an exploration of balance\, strength\,
vulnerability\, and the unique qualities that each zodiac animal represen
ts. It reflects my desire to share these timeless symbols with others and
to celebrate the rich cultural significance they hold\, while also infusin
g my own interpretation and connection to them through the medium of art'.

ion for the Arts to enable this window installation.\n\nImage: Dragon Gi
