SUMMARY:Bluecoat Display Centre: Bluecoat Display Centre: In The Window: El
 izabeth Willow (Artist’s Member Selection)
DESCRIPTION:Elizabeth Willow (Artist’s Member Selection) / Thursday 1st A
ugust 2019 - Saturday 31st August 2019\n\nIn the Window: Glimpses and Refl
ections\n\nElizabeth Willow makes intricate things from gathered materials
 \, including words\, ink\, thread\, dust\, and found objects both natural
and unnatural.\n\nMost often she works with paper\, using bookbinding\, pr
intmaking and collage to create artist’s books and ephemera\, sculptural
objects and installations.\n\nShe is inspired by the nature of objects an
d materials\, by their physical and functional qualities and by the marks
and alterations of time\, elements and usage\, when materials become fragi
le or fragmented\, when objects lose their original purpose and become som
ething else. Her work also draws upon the symbolic qualities of particular
materials and objects\, how they act as repositories for meaning and memo
ry\, how we touch and are touched by them.\n\nIn the windows\, Elizabeth w
ill show new work made from paper and glass\, exploring ways of seeing thr
ough and into\, creating openings and apertures\, glimpses and reflections
 .
