SUMMARY:Bluecoat Display Centre: Bluecoat Display Centre: EU Day of Creativ
 ity event with Adam Buick
DESCRIPTION:EU Day of Creativity event with Adam Buick\nWednesday 21st Marc
 h 2018\nfrom 1.45 - 5pm.\n\nFree event\, booking essential\n\nBluecoat Di
splay Centre will deliver a unique free artist event to coincide with the
EU Day of Creativity on 21st March with ceramicist Adam Buick. This
is linked to our forthcoming Equinox exhibition\, curated by one of ou
 r supporting gallery staff\;\nMegan Hartley-Roberts.\n\nAdam Buick is a Pe
mbrokeshire based ceramicist and conceptual artist who also works with pho
tography and film. Adam will give a demonstration of his making during wh
ich there will be an opportunity to ask him questions about his work and p
ractice. This will be followed by the opportunity to view a couple of his
time lapse films and the afternoon will culminate with the chance to chat
to Adam informally back at the Display Centre's Equinox exhibition\n\nBefo
re his training in ceramics\, Adam studied archaeology and anthropology. H
ence\, his aim is to incorporate elements from the landscape into his work
 s. Adam makes white porcelain moon jars\, a Moon Jar is an ancient Korean
form originally made from plain white porcelain. Adam was so inspired by t
his pure form that he now uses it as the composition for his work. He inco
rporates stone and locally dug clay into his work to create a narrative\,
one that conveys a unique sense of place.\n\n"My work uses a single pure j
ar form as a canvas to map my observations from an ongoing study of my sur
roundings. Landscapes have inspired artists for generations but for me a l
andscape has to be felt. With my site-specific work I too am venerating th
e landscape." - Adam Buick\n\nTo book your free place for this event pleas
