 s the Northern Hemisphere as a time of rebirth\, the Vernal Equinox marks 
 a planetary shift in the seasons and denotes the beginning of spring. Defi
 ned by the equality of day and night\, or light and dark\, this day has co
 me to represent balance. This tradition is reminiscent of a deeper connect
 ion to the landscape and the temporal importance of seasonal fluctuations\
 , things which now are often overlooked. In accordance with these customs 
 the 20th March 2018 marks an emergence from the darkest time of the year\
 , which this exhibition will celebrate.\n\nThe exhibition will bring toget
 her seven artists from across the UK\, working with a variety of styles\, 
 materials\, and experience. All have a common thread running through their
  work pertaining to an elemental or organic quality\, celebrating the abun
 dance of the natural world. It is the commonality between the artists’ s
 ubject matter that has been drawn upon for this exhibition. It can be seen
  in a very literal sense as with Lucy Jane Sylvester’s figurative inse
 ct jewellery\, in the tangible way in which Lizzie Farey uses willow to 
 make her organic sculptures\, or in the conceptual sensitivity seen in Ad
 am Buick’s film pieces\, where his ceramics are immersed and filmed wit
 hin the natural world.\n\nConfirmed exhibitors are Kate Bajic\, Amanda B
 aron\, Adam Buick\, Amy Cooper\, Lizzie Farey\, Elaine Jones\, and Lu
 cy Jade Sylvester. Many are new to the Bluecoat Display Centre\, giving vi
 sitors the chance to see a fresh body of work.
