DESCRIPTION:Bird box making workshop with Jennifer Collier\nSunday 12th May
  2019\n11am – 4.30pm\n\nTickets £75 each (£70 for Display Centre Membe
 rs &amp\; concs)\n\nPrice includes a light lunch and all equipment &amp\; 
 materials will be provided.\n\nCreate a beautiful bespoke bird box\, compl
 ete with its own bird on perch\, created from recycled papers\, stitch and
  card\, inspired by Jennifer’s own work. You will be shown every step of
  the process\, from constructing your bird box to using beautiful\, vintag
 e papers to decorate it. This will be embellished with a range of hand sti
 tches\, including an optional picot stitched trim around the door. You wil
 l also be shown other techniques\, such as embossing\, and will go on to m
 ake your own mono-printed bird.\n\nAll materials and equipment are provide
 d\, but you may wish to bring along your own special papers\, books or map

 \nPaper pioneer Jennifer Collier creates exquisite sculptures from vintage
  recycled materials in conjunction with stitch\; a contemporary twist on t
 raditional textiles. The papers serve as both the inspiration and the medi
 a for the work\, with the narrative suggesting the forms. Through this mar
 riage of unlikely materials old papers are transformed into something trul
 y unique\, delicate and complex.\n\nMost recently Jennifer has been collec
 ting rarely used\, heritage stitches and discovering how to translate the 
 art of lost stitches onto paper\, as these techniques are an important par
 t of our creative heritage and she wants to continue to invest time in the
 m to keep them in the present\, offering them onto future generations. Jen
 nifer is giving new life to things that would otherwise go unused\, unlove
 d or be thrown away…\n\nJennifer completed a BA (hons) in Textiles (Prin
 t\, Knit and Weave) in 1999 at Manchester Metropolitan University\, is int
 ernationally exhibited\, and has had her work featured in over 60 magazine
