Perfect for the complete beginner or those more advanced who want t o have a day of creativity using textiles.\nSunday 17th February\, 11:30am - 5pm.\nProgramme\nDuring this day workshop\, Catherine will guide you th rough 2 feltmaking projects.\n\n\n A wall art piece 30cm x 30cm with hand stitch to decorate your home or as a beautiful hand made gift.\n Felt fl ower decorations - a hair pin\, brooch or decoration.\n\nIn both projects\ , you will learn the ancient Scandinavian skill of wet felt-making. A magi cally creative process\, merino wool and mulberry silk fibres are arranged carefully into a design before water and olive soap are applied to the su rface. Friction from your hands alone with transform the fibres into a tex tile which has a uniquely organic look and feel. Catherine will show you b asic hand embroidery to decorate your artwork before helping you assemble to a frame (embellishment can be stuck down for anyone not so keen on stit ch).\nThe second project will be 3D felt as Catherine guides you through t he process of making a flower shaped decoration - a Christmas rose! Beauti ful as a gift - you can choose to add a hair pin clip\, a brooch back or h ang from a Christmas tree or wreath. Time permitting\, a series of flowers can be made.\nA 'how to' notes handout is included along with references for suppliers and resources.\nTutor: Catherine Carmyllie\nCatherine Carmyl lie is a Liverpool based Artist currently working across painting and text ile art. She completed a Textile Art degree at Huddersfield University bef ore spending 6 months at The Arts and Crafts Academy of Kuopio\, Finland w here she had the opportunity to learn ancient Scandinavian skills such as bookbinding\, weaving\, feltmaking amongst others.
