SUMMARY:Bluecoat: Bluecoat: Babak Ganjei: Thanks For Having Me
DESCRIPTION:Babak Ganjei: Thanks for Having Me\nFriday 9th February - Sunda
 y 14th April\n\nIn his exhibition\, Thanks for Having Me\, Ganjei reflects
on vignettes from his life and career as an artist. He has re-staged the
market stalls that he began selling his work from\; a means of sharing his
work that Ganjei has outgrown\, and yet can’t let go of. The deferentia
l title of his exhibition\, Thanks for Having Me\, reflects back on a life
of operating on the margins and never quite being sure where he belongs.\
n\nGanjei has a longstanding connection with the Bluecoat\, having designe
d a commission for the building’s revamped Hub space back in 2021.\n\nLo
ndon based artist Babak Ganjei graduated with a BA in Fine Arts from Centr
al Saint Martins in 2001. Since then he has been working independently as
an artist\, playing in bands (Absentee\, Wet Paint)\, writing comic books
(Hilarious Consequences\, Early Learnings\, Twit)\, hosting regular radio
show "Hot Mess" on NTS radio and making comedy shorts that have played on
Channel 4.\n\nIn 2014 Babak sold a set of twigs from his neighbourhood on
eBay for £62. He has turned books by Jeremy Clarkson\, Nigel Farage and D
onald Trump into works of blackout poetry\, and tried to sell a painting o
f his credit card back to Barclays for the value of the debt. It didn’t
work but he made a “friend”.
