SUMMARY:BIRCH Studios & Gallery: Black Rock & Other Wonders – Unravelled:
  Landlines Studio
DESCRIPTION:PV &amp\; Talks:\n16th October\, 6-9pm\nBOOK HERE\nOpen:\n17th
 October 6-9pm\n18th October\, 10am-4pm\n\n\n\n‘Black Rock &amp\; Other W
onders – Unravelled’ exhibition is the continuation of the original co
llection of eight flags created for Fort Perch Rock in New Brighton\, as p
art of the Independents Biennial. Over the two months they were flown at t
he fort\, they have been forever changed by the elements\, shaped by salt\
, wind\, rain\, and the passing of time. Nature has added its own layers w
hilst stripping away the pigments they were made with\, transforming their
surfaces and deepening their connection to place.\n\nNow returned to the
studio\, the weathered flags are presented in a new context\, inviting vis
itors to encounter them afresh\, as well as a new collection of smaller wo
rks that preserve the integrity of the original flags before their transfo
rmation. This exhibition will also include our research\, the myths and st
ories that inspired and informed the work\, behind the scenes photographs\
, and the original pigment collection gathered from the fort and surroundi
ng New Brighton area\, that was used to create the work.\n\nAs part of the
event\, we also welcome fort owner\, Doug Darroch\, who will give a brief
talk on the history of the fort at 6.30.\n\nJoin us for the private view
on Thursday 16th October in our Hamilton Square studio 6 - 9pm\, to explor
e how nature\, story\, and time remain woven together\, and see this body
of work in its entirety for the first time.\n\n
