SUMMARY:: Bidston Observatory Artistic Research Centre: Annual General Exch
 ange (AGE)
DESCRIPTION:Venue: Bidston Observatory Artistic Research Centre\nDates: 3
 0/10/2021 - 06/11/2021\nTimes: Various\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs the air snaps cool
er and the nights draw in\, echoes of future crackling fires are calling u
s towards this year's Annual General Exchange (AGE). A shared week in the
calendar\, held open every year at BOARC\, the AGE is a precious moment fo
r collective resourcing.\n\nThis AGE\, we're paying attention to sonic com
monalities at scales. Close listening to the tiniest vibrations of our imm
ediate surroundings can reveal the possibility for multi-species\, more-th
an-human communication. Such listening also reveals the solidifications of
ongoing colonial and extractivist stories within sound.
Honouring pres
ence by listening closely\, this year we’ll be working with the medium o
f field recordings in many different forms. There’ll be workshops that a
llow us time for environmental response\, and reflections on the technolog
ically mediated capture of sounds. Throughout the week\, there will be opp
ortunities to experiment\, which situate sound in the body\, and respond t
o the spirit of place: expect sound bounced off architecture\, cut with la
yers of folklore and shaped by momentary mood.\n\nWe’ll be exploring the
bodily affects of listening – the patient effort of receptive stillness
\, for example\, or the percussion of a body receiving intense information
. Our capacity for attention is linked to our body’s permeability\, and
 never-ending noise pollution becomes toxic body-burden. How\, then\, can w
e cut through the saturation\, and hone our ears to be able to enter diffe
rent frames of reference\, perspectives and alternative ways of thinking a
 nd being?\n\nFor AGE 2021: sound\, dug through\; we’ll be attending to t
ime compressed by ancestral histories\, interrupted by ontological categor
y and resonated by embodiment.\n\n\n\n\n\nProgramme\n\nAGE 21 runs from Sa
 turday 30th October\, to Saturday 6th November.\n\nThe programme is - as a
lways - punctuated with suggestions\, and open for contributions. Bidsto
n Observatory Artistic Research Centre's AGM is on Friday 5th November.\n\
nInvited artists will be sharing their work on Saturday 6th November. Day
users are welcomed for this event\, however space is limited so booking is
  essential. The lineup:\n\nAshley Holmes\n\nDialect (Andrew Hunt)\n\nKell
y Jayne Jones\n\nQuieting\n\nIf you'd like to add suggestions to the week\
, please feel free to email through\, or pop them on the blackboard when y
ou arrive. There are many welcomed forms: workshops\, extended conversati
ons\, trying out new ideas or working through your practice.\n\nCheck out
 the full programme here.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n--\n\nPracticalities:\n\nThe
