SUMMARY:Hilbre Island: Becky Bryson\, Ling Warlow\, Tamasine Seibold: Limin
 al Landscapes
DESCRIPTION:An Independents Biennial Exhibition\n\nLiminal Landscapes\nBeck
 y Bryson\, Ling Warlow\, Tamasine Seibold\n\nFlotsam Fables\, Ling Warlow\
, and Tamasine Seibold present a richly textured exhibition at the histori
c Telegraph Station on Hilbre Island. Featuring Bryson’s myth-inspired
sculptures and dioramas\, Warlow’s intricate paper flowers\, and Seibold
’s intuitive weaving\, the show is free to view during Hilbre open days:
  Sunday 20th July and Sunday 17th August\n\nThe Artists:\n\nBecky Bryson
\n\nBecky Bryson is a multidisciplinary artist with over 20 years’ exper
ience working nationally and internationally. She holds a First-Class BA i
n Fine Art and works under the name Flotsam Fables.\n\nHer practice explo
res mythology\, folklore\, and the natural world through intricate sculptu
res and dioramas made from found and reclaimed materials – often gathere
d along the Wirral shoreline. These pieces inhabit a liminal world where d
iscarded objects are transformed into poetic vessels of story and meaning.
\n\nDrawing on the rhythms of tide and time\, Becky’s work invites refle
ction on impermanence\, resilience\, and the enchantment hidden in everyda
y fragments. Flotsam Fables celebrates transformation and connection—b
 etween self\, nature\, memory\, and the overlooked.\n\nLing Warlow\n\nHoyl
ake based visual artist Ling Warlow celebrates the natural world through p
aper botany\, creating 3D sculptures of British Wildflowers. Inspired by t
he natural shapes\, forms and colours of British hedgerow and wayside plan
ts and trees\, she creates her sculptures using wood\, wire and paper\, of
ten colouring paper using natural dyes taken from plant and vegetable matt
er\, sometimes found and foraged. The resultant colours’ occasional fugi
tive nature adds a temporal dimension to the work\, flowers which may fade
and change over time. Ling’s principal aim is to inspire viewers to loo
k closely at the humble wonders of nature\, recognising that “weeds” a
re wildflowers and encouraging an emotional connection to both nature and
 place.\n\n&nbsp\;\nTamasine Siebold\n&nbsp\;\n\nTamasine Siebold\n\nI am i
nspired by both nature and urban entropy\, beauty in decay. I wish to crea
te a community dialogue to share stories\, emotions\, perspectives and to
approach work in a ‘Mindful and contemplative’ way. As a weaver I have
been using a Saori loom\, Brinkley\, 3D printed Rigid Heddle and DIY loom
 s. I weave not only for expanding my own intuitive weaving practise but al
so to open intuitive weaving to groups within the community. I do this by
enabling people of all abilities to work with looms to create collective c
loth and mindful weaved pieces. I have been using embroidery in a similar
way\, using old/inherited / preloved domestic linen. Within my practise I
try to be mindful of sustainability and resource efficiency\, using pre lo
ved yarns/fabrics\, found objects and inherited vintage objects/textiles.
The Interplay of materials and emotions and the often unspoken burden of c
onsolidating the inheritance of the many possessions of lost loved ones. I
nforming my curiosity of the emotional weight of inanimate objects and add
ing to the intuitive way of creating and thinking. Within my performative
work i have been exploring the feminine archetypes. Embodying mythology\,
personal experience and symbolic interpretation\, using costume\, movement
 \, audience interaction and voice.\n\n&nbsp\;\n\nAbout Hilbre Island:\n\n&
nbsp\;\nThis project aims to secure a sustainable future for a sensitive h
eritage and ecological asset. The restoration of the site’s buildings\,
four of which are listed as Grade II\, will establish a centre dedicated t
o the study of Art\, Science\, and Sustainability. This initiative will en
hance ongoing efforts to monitor migratory birds and foster a deeper conne
ction with the local community through educational programming.\nIn partne
rship with Independents Biennial Liverpool\, we are excited to launch our
inaugural project\, “Drawing Out Hilbre Archipelago.” This ambitious f
estival will feature artist residencies\, workshops\, exhibitions\, and pe
rformances that delve into key themes\, including:\n\n\n \nEcological Int
erconnections: Examining the relationships between different species and t
heir habitats.\n\n \nCultural Heritage and Community Narratives: Celebrat
ing the history and stories that define Hilbre and its surrounding communi
 ties.\n\n \nSustainability and Self-Sufficiency: Emphasizing practices th
at promote ecological balance and resourcefulness.\n\n \nTime and Tides:
Investigating the impact of changing tides on the island and its ecosystem
s.\n\n \nEngagement with Nature: Fostering outdoor participation and arti
stic interaction with the island’s natural environment.\n\n\nTogether\,
these efforts aim to create a vibrant hub for learning and connection with
in the unique context of Hilbre.
