SUMMARY:ArtHouse Gallery: ArtHouse: Louisa Morgan Solo Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Louisa Morgan Solo Exhibition\nArtHouse\, 65 Eastbank Street\,
 Southport PR8 1EJ\n29th August – 3rd October 2020\nAn uplifting new exhi
bition has now gone on show at the ArtHouse in Southport. Louisa Morgan is
an artist who specialises in painting and print making as well as experim
enting through mixed media. Louisa\, originally from Altrincham in Cheshir
e\, moved to Southport 7 years ago and discovered Southport Contemporary A
rts and the gallery in Eastbank Street by chance whilst exploring the town
. A qualified Art Teacher\, Louisa began making her own art again after a
break from professional practice.\n“I aim to make original art accessibl
e to everyone and to share my skills\, knowledge and enthusiasm.”\nLouis
a currently teaches Art to young adults with a range of learning disabilit
ies and has recently started getting back into her own arts practice after
taking time out from teaching and having her first child.\nThe Covid-19 p
andemic has provided Louisa with even more new challenges and parameters d
uring lockdown.\n“There have been a lot of changes to everyone's lives r
ecently that we could never have imagined. Some good changes\, some bad ch
anges and some just weird.”\nLouisa’s work has seen a subjective chang
e in direction. Much of her past work had been mono-chromatic and based ar
ound the subjects of portraiture and urban landscape. However\, in more re
cent works\, this has now been turned on its head\, increasingly being inf
luenced by nature and especially colour - pushing herself away from tradit
ional subject matter.\nThe natural beauty of small birds\, with their brig
ht and striking colours\, has been a particular inspiration for Louisa.\n
“For the theme of birds (which I started before Covid-19 was even a conc
ern)\, I've enjoyed working on some mixed media hummingbirds using a mix o
 f pens\, pencils\, water-soluble pencils and watercolour paints. They're s
uch beautiful tiny creatures.”\nRecently she has further explored using
mixed media to create a series of abstract works responding to nature by f
ocusing on colour and the fluidity of mark-making.\nSouthport Contemporary
  Art’s director\, Norrie Bewick-Calvert\, confirms:\n“Louisa’s work
is a pretty and delicate collection that pulls together her enjoyment of c
reating unique watercolour paintings &amp\; handcrafted prints. These are
complimented by her quirky jewellery.”\nThis exclusive showing is defini
tely not one to be missed. Louisa’s charismatic artwork will be on displ
ay at the ArtHouse\, Eastbank Street from 29th August – 3rd October 2020
. The gallery is open Tuesday – Friday 10.00-15.00. Saturday 11.00-16.00
.\nIn line with Government advice\, the SCA team have introduced strict me
asures to keep visitors to the Gallery as safe as possible: There will be
a policy of 2 visitors at a time\, with social distancing once inside\, an
d hand sanitize dispensers at the door to use on arrival.
