SUMMARY:Art in Windows: Art in Windows: The Artist v The World
DESCRIPTION:The Artist v the World\n\nPosters by Peter Appleton\n\nDates: 1
  - 31 January\, 2020\n\nLocation: 5 Bold Place\, Liverpool\, L1 9DN\n\nTim
es: 24/7\n\nPeter Appleton presents an on-going poster series called The A
rtist v the World that has evolved out of one of his allegorical paintings
.\n\nAppleton’s original painting\, displayed in the small window\, deve
loped from a feeling that people are belittled\, indeed swallowed up by th
e world around them. The painting uses physical landmarks in the Castle St
reet area of Liverpool to represent a symbolic\, mythical creature: Derby
Square is the head and represents Royalty\; Castle Street is the body and
represents Business\; and The Town Hall is the tail and represents Politic
 s. Inside the creature lurks a poor\, lonely figure - a you or me figure -
swallowed up by a greater being\, like Jonah and the Whale.\n\nThe painti
ng has become a lodestone for Appleton’s political feelings and the post
ers that have developed from it have become an ongoing project called The
Artist v The World - a sort of aging fool’s rant against the world and i
ts imperfections. The beginnings of this project\, displayed in the large
window\, represent The Three Estates\, Communications\, Naked Consumption
and Leadership. More will follow\, covering topics such as Duplicity\, Man
 ipulation and Equality.\n\nAppleton uses the traditional\, political-poste
r format to highlight pressing\, contemporary issues that he perceives aro
und him and prod us into thinking about these inequalities in the here and
  now.
