SUMMARY:Art in Windows: Art in Windows: Princess\, Angel\, Honey\, Love\, M
 issus\, Bitch\, Whore
DESCRIPTION:PRINCESS\, ANGEL\, HONEY\, LOVE\, MISSUS\, BITCH\, WHORE\n\nAn
 exhibition by Lidia Lidia\n\nDates: 1 - 31 October\, 2019\n\nLocation: 5 B
 old Place\, Liverpool\, L1 9DN\n\nTimes: 24/7\n\nPrincess\, Angel……Bit
ch\, Whore is the latest installation by Lidia Lidia\, a multi-disciplinar
 y artist who works with installation\, video\, photography\, performance a
nd activism.\n\nIn this installation a Barbie Doll surrounded by pink flow
ers seduces us into the gentle prettiness of popular female imagery that s
tarts in childhood and extends into adulthood. This Barbie\, however\, has
multiple arms\, each occupied with domestic chores\, and a heavily bruise
d face. Arrestingly disturbing\, this picture comes out of Lidia Lidia’s
extensive research and\, as with much of her work\, uses superficially be
autiful images to communicate uncomfortable narratives rooted in social in
justice and inequality.\n\nPrincess…Whore deals with misogynistic cultur
al stereotypes which influence female lives. Worldwide\, they trap many wo
men and girls in positions of submission to the males of their family and
community\, both as domestic labour and sexualised objects. This frequentl
y feeds into casual and persistent violence\, which can be extreme. A rece
nt United Nations study* stated that in 2017\, worldwide 50\,000 women and
girls were killed by intimate partners or family members\, meaning that 1
37 women were killed by a member of their own family every day.\n\nLidia L
idia believes passionately that ‘the personal is political’ and that t
hrough art it is possible to shape a fair and equal society.\n\n*United Na
tions Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) published a 'Global Study on Homic
ide' which includes a publication dedicated to the 'gender-related killing
  of women and girls'\n\nwww.lidialidia.com\n\nwww.artinwindows.org
