SUMMARY:A Small View: A Small View: Got Worms? - by Roxy Topia and Paddy Go
 uld
DESCRIPTION:Preview:  Thursday 21 April 2016  17.00 - 20.00\nExhibition r
uns:  Thursday 21 April – Saturday 21 May 2016\n\nA show by Roxy Topia
and Paddy Gould\n\nGot Worms?\n\nPaddy:  Picture this\, for a year you ar
e standing under the whole blue cloudless sky\, expansive flat plains surr
ound you and the brightest sun you have ever seen is beaming down upon you
. The nearest big city is 3 hours away and to get anywhere you have to dri
ve\, you may or may not see anyone for over a week.\n\n Roxy: Sounds prett
y great\, well it was.\n\nPaddy: Yeah\, and you start to think about where
you have been\, all mod cons\, a distant  culture where the internet is
always available.\n\nRoxy: Mmm and we begin trying to process it all and t
o do that we always start drawing.\n\nPaddy: Yeah\, we drew a lot together
and digitally collaged it all to make designs which we  had printed on t
his real synthetic polyester satin.\n\nRoxy: These sculptures are variatio
ns on a motif\, but we were thinking about all sorts\, from  The Inbetwee
ners to Cleas Oldenburg and his wives\, Patty and Coosje. We think a lot a
bout  health and wellbeing in an age of social media. It is very dramatic
.\n\nPaddy: There’s kind of a compression in making the sculptures. Mayb
e they’re like phantom drawings of things we miss\, bringing closer aspe
cts of things we love.\n\nRoxy: Kinda like “Brick and Clicks” in retai
l\; an offline and online presence.\n\nPaddy: How d’you know about “Br
ick and Clicks”?\n\nRoxy: Google innit.\n\nRoxy and Paddy have been cele
brating\, sorry *collaborating since 2008 and have just completed a year l
ong residency in Roswell\, New Mexico\, USA.  Got Worms? is their first s
olo show together in Liverpool. They  are  wonderful  people.   www.ro
