DESCRIPTION:Jewellery Making (Metal) 10 Week Course - dot-art at Bluecoat\n
 Tuesdays 18.45 - 21.00 starting Tuesday 2 February 2016 (£160 for 10 sess
 ions)\n\nLearn the basic techniques of jewellery making and make a piece o
 f jewellery each week! Includes how to use a jeweller's piercing saw\, dri
 lling\, filing and polishing metal correctly and how to create colour\, te
 xture and patinas on metal.\n\nProgram\nWeek 1: Basic Sawing and Drilling\
 n\nLearn how to install a saw blade into a piercing saw frame.\nLearn abou
 t the different blades and which to use for different materials.\nPractice
  the correct grip of the saw and learn how to cut metal using a jewellers 
 piercing saw.\nLearn how to use a drill and it’s uses in cutting shapes 
 in metal.\n\nWeek 2: Fretwork Piercing\, Filing and Sanding\n\nCreate a de
 sign to cut out of metal\, using the techniques practiced in week 1.\nInco
 rporate sawing curves and straight lines in the design.\nIntroduction to f
 iles and their correct uses.\nLearn about the different grades of wet and 
 dry sandpaper to sand and polish metal.\n\nWeek 3: Making an Impression\n\
 nExperiment with creating textures in metal using centre punches and hamme
 rs.\nUse the surrounding environment to find and create textures on the su
 rface of sheet metal.\n\nWeek 4: Tabs – Trapping Objects\n\nCreate a pen
 dant by cutting tabs into the sheet metal in order to trap objects to crea
 te a pendant.\n\nWeek 5: Earrings and Findings\n\nLearn the correct use of
  different jewellery findings.\nMake your own earring hooks\, eyepins and 
 headpins.\nDesign and make a pair of earrings hung on earring hooks you ha
 ve made.\n\nWeek 6: Slotted Pendant\n\nUsing a slot system to create a 3D 
 pendant\n\nWeek 7: Rings\n\nCreate a selection of adjustable rings in diff
 erent designs and textures.\n\nWeek 8: Design Your Own Jewellery\n\nDesign
  a piece of jewellery to create.\nTaking inspiration from all the techniqu
 es learnt from the previous weeks.\nLearn how to transfer the design onto 
 your chosen metal.\nPractice and experiment the techniques that are going 
 to be used in the final jewellery design.\n\nWeek 9 &amp\; 10: Create and

 ist jeweller with a degree in Design. I run my own business\, creating han
 d-made modern\, minimalist pieces. All of my work is individually made usi
 ng traditional techniques in my home studio. I mainly work in silver\, cop
 per and aluminium\, allowing the hand of the maker to be seen in each piec
 e. My jewellery can be found in a number of shops and galleries around Liv
 erpool.\n\nI have always loved art\, craft and creativity and from a young
  age I was never without a sketchbook in my hand. This love of creating le
 d to my gaining a degree in design at Liverpool Hope University. Here I ex
 perienced a number of craft disciplines\; textiles\, ceramics\, woodwork\,
  but specialised in silversmithing and metalwork with which I completely f
