The Cill Rialaig Project: Jason Hicklin

Twelve etchings and monoprints by Jason Hicklin from Co Kerry South West Ireland. The Cill Rialaig Project is essentially a voluntary community group whose objective is to rebuild a once abandoned pre-famine village on Bolus Head Co Kerry as an international artists and writers retreat. In November 2010 Hicklin was invited to the project and spent ten days walking and drawing the coast these prints are some of the results.
The twelve etchings are published in editions of thirty,numbers one to fifteen are collated into boxed sets.
The work in this exhibition is part of a much larger project walking the edges and outposts of the British Isles.
Jason graduated from St Martin’s in 1988 and the Central School of Art in 1993. He was elected a member of the Royal Society of Painters and Printmakers in 1993, and holds the position of Royal Engraver. Jason’s etchings are based on and inspired by the rugged landscape and weather of the British Isles.
