PARRJAZZ is delighted to present American drummer/composer Robert Castelli and his all-star Boom Quartet to The Capstone Theatre for what will surely be an explosive and exhilarating show, bringing Big Apple street funk together with influences from Latin, Brazilian, African & Eastern music together in a truly original way.
The son of a drummer, as well as the grandson & nephew of drummers, Robert Castelli´s interest in music & drumming began at a very early age. Over the years he has studied with some of the most well known drummers in New York & the world including, Gary Chester, Kim Plainfield, Ed Soph, Tony “Thunder” Smith, Robbie Gonzalez, & Joe Ascione. His playing has been written about in The NY Times online, Cadence Magazine, Jazz Halo Belgium & Drums & Percussion Germany. His recordings as a leader have received critical acclaim from some of the most widely read magazines & websites in The U.S.A, U.K. & Europe including Jazzwise Magazine London, Drummer Magazine UK, The Jazzman web site and Time Out London.
His collaborators for this project between them have worked with some of the most famous names in music today including Eric Clapton, Jools Holland, Soweto Kinch, Baaba Maal, Zoe Rahman, Andy Sheppard, Gilad Atzmon, Asaf Sirkis and Mark Lockheart.
