Young Everyman Playhouse programme applications for 2019 are now open!
Applications for Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse’s Young Everyman Playhouse programme are open for 2019.
The six-strand learning programme is designed to develop and nurture young theatre makers of the future, through a hands-on course giving YEP members real-life experience of working in regional theatre.
Aimed at aspiring actors, directors, technicians, producers, writers and marketers the programme gives opportunities to learn new skills and work on real-time productions. Young people aged 18-25, and aspiring actors between ages 14-22 are led by experienced theatre staff throughout the course.
Depending on the strand, young people will be given the opportunity to shadow professional directors, develop ideas for new plays, create sound and lighting programmes for YEP productions in the Everyman & Playhouse, and work to deliver marketing campaigns.
Poppy Parker, Young Everyman Playhouse Producers graduate and Everyman & Playhouse trainee assistant producer, said:
“I’d just moved to Liverpool and YEP gave me an opportunity to interact with theatre makers in the city, whilst also developing my skills. It was also great to join a programme associated with Everyman & Playhouse, and to learn directly from industry professionals.
“Since taking part in YEP, I was offered a role at the theatres and have worked as a trainee producer since September 2018. I’ll be starting another exciting job within the arts sector very soon.
“YEP gave me a fantastic grounding in the skills I needed and helped teach me what it’s like to produce in a working theatre. Not forgetting the friends I’ve made and the people I’ve met!”
Strands in the YEP Programme are free, however there is a nominal fee for the actors programme, with financial support available in some circumstances.
Closing dates vary depending on the programme strand. For more information and to apply visit www.everymanplayhouse.com/YEP.
