The Project
Lancashire Not Forgotten is a heritage and arts project that recognises that people living with dementia are a rich source of information and social history. The project will evidence that they have stories to tell and rich life experiences which that can help us understand the area where we live.
The project is a collaboration between Blackburn with Darwen Council, Lancashire County Council and Blackpool Council, and uses shared heritage to explore three themes – where we live, work and play.
Blackburn with Darwen Council’s section of the project will focus on rekindling memories of how we used to live (1930s-1980s). Events will be held at four heritage sites in Blackburn and four in Darwen. We aim to offer varied and activities for people living with dementia, appropriate to those with a diverse range of interests and abilities and with content that will entertain, inform and stimulate.
The Commission
We seek a visual artist who will design and deliver eight short workshops (one per heritage setting) with an appropriate theme. They will also design and deliver eight further activity sessions, creating interest as participants contribute to making a venue-to-venue heritage trail in each town.
The artist selected will have experience of developing and delivering good quality creative programmes with heritage content, as well as a strong interest in working with people living with dementia. They will be expected to find creative ways to interpret the memories and living history captured during the process of the project.
Fee: £1500

Timescale: December 2016 – July 2017 and focussing on events in January / February / May / June / July
