Hare Hill want to work with an artist(s), maker or architectural practise whose work explores art, nature and the environment to develop a new artwork which utilises wood from the site. Offering the opportunity to create a large scale work in an outdoor location supporting the work of the Garden team.
What we want to achieve:
We want to encourage visitors to connect with the history of the sites, at a place where there is limited opportunity to communicate the stories and vision of the owners and the development of the garden. The artwork will create a specific place in the garden where visitors can subtly commemorate/reflect and provides a transition between the historic woodland garden and the new wildflower meadow.
Trust New Art (TNA) helps to grow people’s love of our special places by using contemporary arts to explore and express ‘Spirit of Place’. It is supported by partnerships with Arts Council England. The programme helps to build new and repeat audiences for the arts and our properties and follows the National Trust’s approach to programming. It provides commissioning and career opportunities to both emerging and established artists and has become recognised in the arts sector as a mark of quality. In 2020 there are eight TNA projects in the North region exploring different aspects of Art and Environment, Nature and Culture.
Fee inclusive of production of the work and all expenses. Additional funding for marketing and community engagement will be spent by the National Trust and project teams will support the artist throughout. Please be advised that access to a car is desirable as it is a rural location with no public transport.
