The Brighouse Festival is an annual arts festival in the market town of Brighouse, Calderdale, West Yorkshire. Our theme for this year’s programme is ‘Bridges’: Bridging Arts with Community. The origin of our town name is ‘Bridge-House’, and we have four prominent bridges linking: motorway, canal, roman roads, and the railway to our town centre.

Last year we hosted the micro residency at The Old Town Hall (see images of installation of ‘Rubbish Brighouse’ – a whole town sculpture made from discarded objects). Any installation needs to respect the space: wooden floorboards, walls can have temporary hangings, and visitor access during selected opening times.

3.Group exhibition for works to be displayed alongside the micro-residency which will take focus of the exhibition. Site TBC but all spaces in Brighouse town centre are prominent locations with high passer-by footfall, there is an additional possibility of a sale on the last Saturday of the festival.

Participatory works are encouraged for strands 1 and 2.
