R Jackson and Sons Ltd is Liverpool’s oldest and longest established artists’ suppliers. It is also one of the oldest art shops in the UK, celebrating a remarkable 150 years trading in Slater Street, close to the original premises founded by Robert P Jackson in 1866.
To help mark the anniversary, Liverpool contemporary artists are being invited to exhibit their work in OneFifty Gallery: a pop-up gallery in the storefront window in what will become the smallest venue of the 2016 Biennial Fringe.
This is an open brief but your work should reflect the range of traditional media available in Jackson’s yet be responsive to the audiences of the UK’s Biennial of contemporary art.
We are seeking applications from 7 Liverpool-based visual artists in total, each having a 2 week window ‘residency’ over the course of the Biennial: 9th July – 16th October 2016.
Your work needs to be in 2D. It must be capable of easily being handled by one person and also mountable on a small studio easel. Multiple smaller works are also acceptable. Artwork should also be available for sale at standard commission rates. Artists will be responsible for their own insurance of works.
The event will be co-ordinated and supported by artists within the Liverpool Artists’ Network. Please do NOT contact R Jackson & Sons directly.
OneFifty Gallery will also feature in the official Biennial Fringe guide shortly to be published by The Double Negative.
Please submit your initial expression via www.onefifty.org
Deadline for initial expressions of interest is Monday 23rd May, full details will be published in June. Contact John Elcock 07990 553 710 for info.
