We’re looking for UK-BASED VISUAL ARTISTS who identifies as TRANS*

ARTMOB is looking for expressions of interest from UK-based Trans* Visual Artists for a new exhibition in 2016/17 titled: Continuum: Framing Trans Lives in 21st Century Britain.

The project will be curated and designed by ARTMOB founders Louis Bailey (artist-academic) and Alex J Gardner (artist-designer), both of whom are trans* identified, and will showcase work that documents trans* voices and experiences in 21st Century Britain.

We are looking for proposed work that addresses the following themes (the list below is not exhaustive!):

Trans* lives, bodies, experiences; legal, physical, psychological, philosophical issues related to living as trans*;examinations of gender in society from a trans* perspective; trans* sexualities; the representation of trans* lives in media/society; (in)visibility

At this stage we are looking for expressions of interest and examples of work as we are in negotiation with a major Manchester venue and are in the process of obtaining funding. Selection will be based on potential ideas as well as examples of previous work.

Media Accepted: Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Photography, Digital Art, Video Art. If your medium is not listed here, please get in touch to discuss your work with us via email at

We are looking for new or recent work that has not been previously exhibited in the UK. Please note that contributing artists can exhibit under a pseudonym.

Selections will be made by a panel. We are keen to ensure that the exhibition represents a diversity of trans* identities and experiences.

We hope to be able to provide a fee to all successful artists, depending on funding.

Please submit an Expression of Interest form, an up-to-date CV and up to 3 images of previous work – details and forms available at under PROJECTS.
