Deadline: Sunday 3 January 2016.
We are seeking artistic interpretations on the theme of ‘Identity’. Identity is the way we perceive and express ourselves. Many factors throughout our lives will define our identity such as ethnic origin, heritage, gender or culture. But identity is something that is fluid and is subject to change. We want to show how many artists use their work to express, explore, and question ideas about identity across all cultural boundaries.
Artwork can be in any medium, excluding performance art. Artists can enter up to three pieces of artwork at £2 per piece. This is a donation towards the running cost of the exhibition as we receive no funding.
Deadline: Sunday 3rd January
Outcome of entry: Monday 4th January
Delivery Dates: Thursday 7th- Sunday 17th January (Thurs-Sun 10am-5pm.)
Possibly subjects to look at could include:
· Personal Identity and Self Identity
· Gender Identity
· Cultural Identity
· National Identity
· Individuality and Stereotypes
· Personas and Alter Egos
· Social Identity
· Digital Identity and Online Personas
People’s experiences can alter how they see themselves or are perceived by others. Conversely, their identities also influence the decisions they make: Individuals choose their friends, adopt certain fashions, and align themselves with political beliefs based on their identities. We want to create an exhibition that represents the broad spectrum of what Identity is and can be and to raise the question “Is Identity how we see ourselves or how others see us?”
