Bolton Library and Museum Service – ‘Elements’ Exhibition Artist Residency
Bolton Museum is continuing its programme of exciting family friendly exhibitions this year with a futuristic exhibition ‘Elements’.
‘Elements’ marks the 150th anniversary and proclaimed, ‘International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements (IYPT2019)’.
With a wish to develop artists and combine the themes of science and art within our public programme, we are commissioning an artist residency to run alongside our exhibition. We are looking for an artist to combine arts and science and create new work inspired by our exhibition. As well as being an ideal platform to showcase your work we are looking for an innovative varied public engagement outcome alongside the exhibition and residency, and, the potential of an exhibition of created artwork.
The exhibition will run from 9th November 2019 – 26th January 2020
There is one commission available for Elements 2019. We welcome applications from artists or collectives working across art-forms to make work or a piece of work inspired by our ‘Elements’ exhibition, artists should also include a public engagement outcome.
This residency aims to provide opportunities and support for artists and creatives based in Greater Manchester, looking to build a professional career within the arts, as well as established artists
This commission is designed to support Greater Manchester based artists/collectives with a proven record of public displays and engagement. There will be a commission fee of £4000.00 supported through Arts Council National Lottery Project Grants.
The total commission fee of £4000 will include artist fees of £250.00 per day plus all costs of materials and artists resources and expenses. Applicants must demonstrate in the application process a full breakdown of budgets for the commission.
Deadline 25th October 2019
