SPACE RAIDERS OPEN CALL
OUTLINE
The Royal Standard is inviting four Liverpool based artist collectives, grassroot organisations or individual artists to take over our gallery space for a series of rotating two-week experimental mini residencies.
Currently, due to covid and not receiving regular funding like larger galleries or institutions, we have a gap in our funding and programme for a short while. Rather than leaving our gallery space empty, we wanted to open the space up to artists in the city to experiment with, creating larger work at scale or exhibit existing work in. This is a completely flexible opportunity and we are open to new ideas of how the space could be used.
As things are starting to wake up and reopen, we want to provide an opportunity for local artists to experiment with their work outside of their homes and studios. Whether you’ve developed a great idea for a project you want to test out, or you’ve built up a new body of work over the last few months that you’re eager to display in a gallery setting, we want to hear from you.
The main aim of this project is to provide Liverpool’s artists with a space to create, play around with and make their own.
We are happy to accommodate public-facing aspects of the mini-residency, such as exhibitions if they are infitting with covid government guidelines. Events of any size will not be allowed. Due to covid restrictions, there are limitations to what can be done in the space but we are happy to discuss and work through this with selected artists. Our team of Artist Leads will work with guest artists, collective and organisers to support them in realising their ambitions for the space, as well as providing marketing and install support if public-facing exhibitions are incorporated into their plan.
