Flare is looking to appoint a new Audience Director, to lead on the public profile and audience experience of the Flare International Festival of New Theatre 2020.
Established in 2011, Flare will again bring around 20 international emerging performance companies to Manchester for 5 days of public performances and engagement opportunities, and an integral artist development programme. Taking place from 7-11 July 2020 at venues including Contact Theatre, HOME, The Lowry and the Martin Harris Centre, the festival will present a selection of the most innovative new theatre-based performances by new theatre makers from this country, the rest of Europe and further afield.
Working alongside the Artistic Director Neil Mackenzie and the General Director Laura Broome, the post commences in the week of 16 December 2019 with a fixed fee of £4000 for a total of 40 days employment.
Hours of Work: 1 day per week initially, building to full time in the weeks of 29 June and 6 July.

Interviews will take place on 2nd December in central Manchester.
- Overall responsibility for the festival’s marketing, audience development, public engagement and audience experience, working closely with the Artistic Director and General Director.
- Mentor and line manage three new producers leading on Marketing, Front of House, and Engagement and Participation.
- Contribute to the design and management of the event overall, with a focus on audience experience.
- Establish and manage working relationships with marketing and engagement partners.
- Oversee Front of House and box office activities.
- Oversee the production and distribution of marketing materials and manage the on-line profile.
- Significant marketing experience (preferably in theatre/arts)
- Significant Front of House experience (preferably festivals or similar contexts)
- Strong interpersonal skills as well as enthusiasm & energy
- Ability to work independently
- Flexible approach to work
- Strong IT and internet skills
- Knowledge of Manchester’s theatre/arts scene
- Commitment to the development of Contemporary Theatre/Performance
- Own transport
