Roy Munday

BA (Hons) degree course in fine art. JMU 2001 – 2004

During the Degree Show I was joint winner of the Swiss Life Prize for my painting ‘Sunset Over Stanley Dock’ and which now hangs in their headquarters in the Albert Dock

My current work is very much about the city of Liverpool, as I’m fascinated by the older parts of the city and am keen to capture them in paintings before they are either demolished or redeveloped.

Added to this I also have a fascination with atmospheric seascapes, also figurative work, and I want to further develop my portraiture work and take on commissions.

I have now established myself in Arena studios at 82 Duke street, Liverpool. Here I have a studio and gallery where clients can come and view and discuss work.

In November of 2004 I was awarded the Norman Moores Fellowship for painting and drawing by the Liverpool School of Art and Design and which runs for a year.

Again last November I was awarded a commission by JMU for a painting that now hangs on the top floor of the Aldham Robarts building of the John Moores University.

Also this year I had two paintings in the university of Liverpool’s biennial spring exhibition for post graduate students from JMU.
