The Queen and Ben Johnson

Maybe someday artinliverpool will be part of the ‘Big Table’ (biennial, tate, bluecoat etc.) and we’ll get to dine with the Queen. Spotted a few of them going into St George’s for lunch with HM today – all we got was Alistair Upton’s plastic union flag. Only kidding of course, I would refuse any offer of dining with the ruling classes. She was here to officially open the Arena & Convention Centre.

We were on our way to see the Ben Johnson exhibition at the Walker which opens to the public on Saturday (though you can have a preview if you go to his book signing at 11.00 – 13.00 tomorrow).
As well as the fantastic Liverpool Cityscape there are Hong Kong, Jerusalem and Zurich panoramas plus a few other delights like the interior of Rookery building in Chicago.

I’m fascinated by the process of creating these works, there are various computer print-outs and colour charts like this one of the ferry boat and its great to see the finished product and get a good idea of what Liverpool will look like once all the current building work is complete.
