How to pack out a private viewing.
If I owned a gallery, every so often just for fun I would advertise a private viewing with unlimited free drink, music, goodie bags, maybe even food. Give it an ambiguous title but not actually display any art. How many people would notice? How many people would notice and actually comment on it?
There is art here though. Not a lot but ‘The artists have created an all-encompassing environment comprising of four harmonious and contrasting colours.’
It has a nice, cool look and feel to it, here’s the rest of the blurb which says it better than I can…
‘3set’ are a collective comprising of three artists based in the Northwest (all of whom are members of the Manchester based collective ‘It was Ken’.) These 3 artists are fused by their motivation to create art, which is both
intrinsically complex and seductively simple, with the belief that anything truly creative is always a balance between the serious and the playful. This is translated through their exploration of colour, repetition and materiality.
Remake is the collective’s debut show. The artists have created an all-encompassing environment comprising of four harmonious and contrasting colours. The lack of creditation given to specific works in the show leaves the whole space cultivating into one collaborative piece.
The show involves various materials and is informed by painting, sculpture and installation, yet conforms to none of the three exclusively.
At Polished T, 37-41 Duke St. until Sept 28th.
