The next art market at the Metropolitan Cathedral Piazza is scheduled for next Sunday 22 June 2008 and that reminds me that the May market was pretty good. It was quite busy and we bought a few things including one of these canvas bags with a print of the hubcapmap on it.
The hubcapmap is stocked in quite a few places now including the 08 Place, Borders and Blackwells. Its a map of the Merseyside rail network with the station names replaced by names of famous people. Mostly the birthplaces or homes of Merseyside people such as Glenda Jackson at West Kirby or Jamie Carragher in Bootle but others are more tenuous such as Tiger Woods in Hoylake – because he won the Open Golf Championship there or Paul Simon at Widnes.
The map was created by local designer Graeme Currie who is already working on the next idea of a Culture and Revolution map based on the map of flights from Liverpool to European destinations.
