Eco Fashion Show at The Williamson Gallery, Birkenhead. 21st of July to the 26th of August 2007
Great show to take the kids to…
The young people from the SHAFTESBURY YOUTH CLUB in Tranmere have transformed donated clothes from a local charity shop to create new outfits on show at the Williamson throughout the summer break.
The results were originally shown at the Eco Fashion Show at the Shaftesbury on World Environment Day in June.
Using recycled material and odds & ends from The Green Community Shop and Centre, the young people worked really hard on their creations. Local craftsperson, Alison Bailey Smith worked with the young people of the club and the playscheme.
Alison said ‘It was a real community event. The kids made the paper for the invitations, chose the music, created the clothes and decorations as well as modelled the clothes on the catwalk! The exhibition gives us all a chance to see close up all their hard work’
