Claire McCarthy at 33-45 Parr Street

claire-mccarthy-3345.jpgAfter the exciting weekend’s events it was good to be back in the old routine last night and take in a new exhibition.

After recording this week’s podcast at a rather noisy Tabac cafe (should be on the defnet website very soon) I went to 33-45 Parr St. for the viewing of this solo exhibition by Claire McCarthy.

Titled ‘The Colourful Urban Spiritual Expression of Liverpool’, these paintings are larger than what we normally see in this bar and I think it works really well. McCarthy paints with acrylics in a fast, loose style. Mostly familiar local street scenes, pictured above is ‘Crossroads at Bold St and Hanover St on a Cold Day’.

The paintings will be on display until end of February 2008 and are for sale, ask at the bar for details or contact Claire via her webpage
