Lots to see at the Chester College degree show at Novas Contemporary Urban Centre. You’ll need to be quick though, it ends on Monday May 26 2008.
Final year Fine Art and Photography students from the University of Chester have been working for three years towards their final degree show. They are holding a multi-media exhibition of work by 54 students in the Novas CUC, John Humble and Connolly Gallery.
The group have been participating in a module entitled ‘professional practice’, the first time it has been co-ordinated by the University. Within this module students were prepared for life as artists outside the University. The main objective was to organise an external degree show in a city of the students’ choice. Liverpool was decided upon to coincide with its year as the Capital of Culture 2008. The 54 students were separated into groups responsible for all aspects of planning and installing the exhibition. The title of the show, ‘Departure’ was chosen to reflect the time in their lives as they leave University behind and enter the art world.
The exhibition is open to the public from 17 May – 26 May, 11.00am – 6.00pm and is the culmination of three years intensive hard work from the students. To find out more about the work in the show contact CUC North West or www.departure-exhibition.co.uk
