I know The South Bank Show is an arts program but this will be the first time I’ve watched it in about 20 years.

40 years after the publication of influential poetry anthology The Mersey Sound, Melvyn Bragg considers its cultural impact, as contributing poets Roger McGough and Brian Patten reconvene to give a special reading of their work at the Queen Elizabeth Hall. They also give a tour of ‘their’ Liverpool, in which they revisit favourite haunts and reminisce about their encounters with Jimi Hendrix and Lennon and McCartney – and remember fellow poet and contributor, the late Adrian Henri.
