Fathoming – Setting poetry to silk. Launch at Bluecoat 22 Oct

Fathoming – Setting poetry to silk.

smocked silk jewellery eva fulinova – poems rebecca sharp

launch event friday 22nd october 2010 19.00 – 21.00
hosted by purlesque at the bluecoat hub, school lane, liverpool

fathoming is a triptych of poems worked into individual smocked silk necklaces, each of unique design.
each poem/piece – the locker, the reminder and the token – can be experienced alone or as part of the series of three.
the thread of a story runs through the pieces – two voices separated by time and the sea; memories and secret messages

drift on a breeze of shimmering silk; the promise of a return perhaps never fulfilled; echoes of penelope at her loom,
waiting for odysseus. to read the poems, on the page or within the silk, is to unravel their secrets.

to wear each piece is to reveal its magic, while forever keeping some parts hidden, for only the bearer to behold.
the pieces will be available for viewing exclusively at purlesque
from saturday 23rd october until saturday 29th january 2011, as well as online.

they will be for sale at the launch and thereafter online only at http://tinctory.bigcartel.com/
