Of course, as the Biennial starts next week there will be a plethora of Viewings, Launches, Afterparties but this is one that is open to all and should not be missed.
Private viewing of ‘City States’ part of Liverpool Biennial – Novas CUC 41-51 Greenland Street – Liverpool L1 0BS.
Thursday 16th Sep 2010 6-8pm followed by an afterparty.
<City States> introduces 85 International artists from 26 countries and most of them will be there, they deserve a warm Liverpool welcome and show of support partly because, although facilitated by the Biennial and hosted by CUC, they have had to find all their own funding and sponsorship to bring over their artwork and themselves and it should be a fantastic show.
I had a look around CUC today, there is construction and installation work going on in every space. The group of Caribbean artists have already installed quite a lot in their ‘pavilion’ on the 3rd floor whilst in the other corner of the same floor ‘Shoplifter’, the famous Icelandic artist is installing her piece along with many others in the Nordic section and ArtSchool Palestine were building partition walls on the ground floor.
Artists from: Sweden- Iceland- Vietnam- China – Faroe Islands- Hong Kong – Canada- Korea – Norway – Finland – Singapore- Barbados- Denmark – Japan – Taiwan – Palestine- Morocco – France – Syria – Jordan – India – Austria – Lithuania – Bahamas – Martinique
